About Us

Tortola island

Nestled in the lush island of Tortola, British Virgin Islands is a secret treasure by the name of Bamboushay Pottery.  This local business has been in operation since 2001 and is one of the few businesses that produce local art in the BVI.

Bamboushay produces pottery in a variety of shapes and sizes in beautiful hues of blues and greens that match the island’s cool colours.  Recently, the business’ key product has been sconces.  These light fixtures are durable and can be customized to match a house’s character or the home owner’s personal style.  These sconces can last a lifetime and can withstand both the heat and cold without ever tarnishing or fading.  Bamboushay has received many orders over the years and our pottery has been shipped worldwide.

The original name Bamboushay comes from the island of Nevis where the owner has roots.  Pottery runs in the family blood and can still be traced back to the New Castle Village.  Pottery continues to be handmade by another family member in Nevis to this day!  Bamboushay Pottery was born in Tortola and has planted her roots deep in the soil.  Although the physical building was flattened by Hurricane Irma on September 6, 2017 – the building has been rebuilt and we’re back in business!

The word bamboushay means a festive dance.  The original Bamboushay was an ‘action spot’ or local club where live bands played music in Nevis.  This original Bamboushay was run by the owner’s Uncle Alfred Skeete.

What Our Customers Have To Say

When I visited the BVI, I didn’t have time to shop for souvenirs. I was happy to find this website and  learn that I could order pieces and have them shipped directly to my home!  I got my souvenirs!

All the products are beautifully handmade! I love the sconces that I bought!
